It is situated in the Ananthagiri hills of the Araku Valley in the Eastern Ghats of India and about 90 km from the coastal city of Visakhapatnam. Borra Caves are considered to be a unique natural wonder of the country.
The largest cave in India is a natural stalagmite as well as a stalactite. Many such types of caves are found in different places in the world.
Bora Caves These types of caves are found in America in Texas and in Europe in Slovakia as well as in our Meghalaya. And all of them are considered equal to each other. All these bora caves are believed to be from many years ago.
Natural deposits are visible from the ceiling as well as the floor of the caves. And they are also known as stalagmite and stalactite. The haphazard structures of borra shall make all your mind’s imaginations directionless, but many times the deposits dissolve inside, and through that a structure showing as a pillar appears.
Many such types of caves are mostly built on the course of the river. And because of this, the water of the river gets flowing out of such caves. You can also see the river flowing around all the caves. Bora cave is believed to be the origin of the Gosthani river. Moreover, this river emerges from these caves and reaches Visakhapatnam.
Borra Caves Visakhapatnam
Borra Caves built in the hills of Ananthagiri is considered to be one of the largest caves in the country. These Borra caves are situated at an altitude of about 1400 feet above the rich level of caves about one million years old. Bori Caves is located about 90 km from Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.
Probably spread over an area of 2 km. Borra Caves were discovered by an Englishman named William King George in the year 1807 and Borra Caves is the main missing place of Araku Valley.
Borra Caves Meaning
According to the established language of this region, Borra means hole. There is a very big hole at the top of Borra Caves. And because of that, they are named Borra Caves. Anecdotes say that once a cow suddenly fell inside this hole and after that, the tribal people came to know about these Borra caves.
The tribal people got to know about the origin of this river as well. And because of that, this river is known as Goshen. If you go to this cave, then you will see a structure like a cow’s udder at some place and water keeps dripping from there and that water falls directly on the Shivling sitting below it.
According to modern history, the discovery of Borra caves is said to be during the British period. And it is also said that King William Jaws discovered these caves about 200 years ago through the Geological Survey of India. Anthropologists say that according to the antiquity of stone weapons found in the Borra caves, people lived in these caves about 30,000 to 50,000 years ago.
Structures of Borra Caves
Borra caves are made of falling water and these formations are called in the local language it is called Jalbhasha. And you also get to see Shri Sai Baba and many other temples here. At this place, along with Sita’s bedroom, the bathroom is also situated. And yellow water comes out from this place. And it is also said that Sita Mata herself used to take turmeric baths at this place.
This water comes out of Sita Mata’s bathroom. But if it is seen scientifically, it is only sulfur metal, and because of this, the water appears yellow. Here the human brain, monkey, resting elephant, running horse, man’s foot, and his mace are found to see structures of many sizes.
The Beauty of the Borra Caves caves
Out of these, the structure of the human brain is very beautiful. What’s more, the stalagmite and stalactite formations look completely different. There is a big rock here. And the ends of both of them are joined by a long pact. The people there were divided through this treaty, these two parts are known as Luv and Kush meaning both sons of Sita Mata.
All these scenes are very much to behold. There is a hole in the roof of this cave. Coming closer from there, the light illuminates the caves beautifully, illuminating the entire department. Standing at different places in the cave, you can see the different shades of this light.
